Newrest is looking for a Transportation Manager to join our team of 250 colleagues who provide airline catering services to our customers in Copenhagen Airport.

The Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of transportation operations, including developing and executing strategies to improve safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

The Transportation Manager oversees the daily operations of the transportation department (drivers, dispatchers, dock coordinators, flight supervisors etc.) evaluate current processes and procedures, develop policies and procedures, and coordinate with other departments to ensure the safe and timely delivery of goods and services.

The Transportation Manager has two deputy transportation managers in direct line of which one is responsible for the drivers and the other one for dispatchers, flight supervisors, dock coordinators, and fridge checkers.

In total, the transportation department consists of 90 employees of which approximately 55 are drivers.

The Transportation Manager is responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of strategies and initiatives to improve transportation services and operations. The Transportation Manager ensures that the organization's transportation services meet customer requirements, are cost-effective, and are in compliance with all applicable regulations.

The Manager will coordinate with other departments, such as maintenance suppliers and safety, to ensure smooth operations. The successful candidate will have excellent management, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of the regulations and laws related to transportation operations.

Areas of responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and implement transportation strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage the transportation budget.
  • Ensure an effective and timely planning and administration of resources in our planning system.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and programs related to transportation.
  • Provide leadership and direction to transportation staff.
  • Negotiate and coordinate contracts, services, and agreements.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the transportation department.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and laws.
  • Ensure together with the deputy managers that all staff is proper trained.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate transportation services.
  • Evaluate and analyze transportation programs and services.
  • Monitor and analyze data to assess the performance of transportation initiatives, like punctuality, accidents, costs, sickness, well being initiatives, retention etc.
  • Further develop and implement performance metrics.
  • Build and develop a strong leadership team in Transportation.

Required Competencies:

There are several ways into this position, but we expect you to, ideally, represent the following skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business-, logistics-, freight forwarding or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics planning
  • Ability to build and further develop collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • An ability to act and thrive in a fast-paced organization with short deadlines and occasionally high pressure.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in working with union representatives and collective bargaining agreements (‘overenskomster’).
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

  • Proficient in English and Danish verbally and in writing
  • Flair for IT (MS Office) and planning software.
  • Strategic mindset with an eye for operational efficiency.

You must be able to pass an extended security check due to the nature of our work, which include a clean criminal record.

Only candidates living in Zealand or Malmø area will be taken into consideration.
