We are searching for a highly motivated Full-stack Web Developer to develop and maintain research-based web applications and resources related in particular to Danish and Nordic cultural heritage data. You will be a part of the Department for Nordic Studies and Linguistics (NorS) at University of Copenhagen and will work together with both researchers and developers. Your main task will be to develop, upgrade and maintain web applications for various research groups including, but not limited to: name research (onomastics), dialectology, language technology and manuscript collections. The collections at NorS contain important national and world cultural heritage and you will be a key part of making the cultural heritage accessible to researchers and the public. You will need to be able to work with existing systems and data, but we offer a degree of freedom to pursue solutions with new technologies and methods, such as MEAN and graph databases.
Qualifications:
- Skills and experience in full-stack development (LAMP and similar)
- Strong web programming skills: JavaScript, HTML, XML, Python/PHP/etc.
- Experienced database programmer: primarily with MySQL/MariaDB, but with the ability to work with MSSQL and Oracle where necessary
- Experienced user of GitHub and Git repositories
- Ability to write documentation in English
- UI/UX design and management
- Experience in working in teams with diverse stakeholders
- A demonstrated understanding of the complex compliance environment in Danish public institutions including handling of personal data (GDPR), accessibility and data security
- Ability to work in a primarily Danish-speaking environment is an advantage
The Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics (NorS) (at Southern Campus) provides the setting for international research and education from BA- to PhD studies within language and language technology, literature, media, culture and gender studies. At NorS we do research, dissemination and teaching in the areas of Nordic cultural heritage and in modern sociolinguistic and technological approaches to language. We work with philological disciplines such as manuscript and literature studies, with name research, language change, and human language technology. NorS employs around 150 staff, with a group of 10 with technical profiles.
Salary and terms of employment in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC with a position as administrative officer or special consultant or HK Payroll Group 2 or 3, or second academic organization. It is possible to negotiate supplements according to qualifications.
The developer position is a full-time (37 working hours weekly) permanent position. Starting date is primo September 2023, or as soon as possible hereafter.
