The Business IT Department at the IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for at least one full-time faculty position(s) at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Information Systems. The proposed starting date is 1. November 2023, or soon thereafter. We invite applicants who want to contribute to the IT University’s vision of creating and sharing knowledge that is profound and leads to ground-breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity. The new assistant or associate professor(s) will work in the Business IT department.
About the department
The Business IT department is organized into three interdisciplinary research groups: Information Systems and Digital Innovation, REFLACT, and Technologies in Practice.
The groups share an interest in the socio-technical fabric of digitalization and digital transformation. With more than 25 assistant, associate, and full professors, the groups cover disciplines such as Information Systems, Science and Technology Studies, and Human-Computer Interaction.
Information systems researchers in the department regularly publish in the discipline’s leading journals. The department offers three study programs: a BSc in Global Business Informatics, an MSc in Digital Innovation & Management, and a professional part-time master programme in IT management.
The department also hosts three research centers `Center for Digital Welfare´, `Center for Climate IT´ and `European Blockchain Center´ and the two academic labs `ETHOS lab´ and `BUILD lab´.
The focus of the position(s)
The IT University seeks to strengthen its research and teaching in Information Systems. Candidates should have a well-established pipeline in at least one fareas of information systems research, which include but are not limited to:
- Digital transformation
- Digital innovation
- Software platforms
- Business Analytics
- Future of work
- Process management and automation
- Digital sustainability
- AI in business and society
- Information systems design, development, and project management
Teaching may include foundational information systems topics, including systems analysis and design, information systems development, and process improvement. The teaching will be within the bachelor and master programs offered by the Business IT department, where most courses are in English.
The associate professor position will be based on a permanent contract (tenured position). The assistant professor position will be for three years with a possibility of a 1-year extension.
Evaluation of candidate (s)
The applicants will be evaluated based on the Competency Development Profiles of the IT University, which outlines the specific competency areas for teaching and research that candidates are evaluated upon. Each competency area outlines minimum criteria for assistant and associate level, respectively.
A PhD degree is mandatory for entry at the assistant and associate professor levels. In addition, it is a requirement that applicants for the associate professor position can read/speak a Scandinavian language or are willing to learn Danish.
The ideal candidate can document competencies, experience and interests corresponding to the criteria outlined in the ITU Competency Development Profile for research and teaching.

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time academics. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

- Documentation of pedagogical experience and teaching record within at least one of the teaching areas listed for the position
- Preferably documentation of both a) received observation and feedback on teaching, b) pedagogical training courses as a teacher, c) a formal written assessment of teaching competence and d) a teaching record within at least one of the teaching areas listed for the position
The applicant will be accessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 13 Mar 2012.
The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the Chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
